“Meeting the Moment with a Full Heart”

Our sixth annual Life After High School convening will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 9:00 - 4:00 PM. Hosted by NOLA CCAN at the Cowen Institute, this momentous event aims to elevate programs, best practices, and capacity building so the adolescent- and opportunity youth-serving counselors and success coaches in our region are poised to support their student populations towards and through a best fit postsecondary plan.

About the Convening: Life After High School’s goal is to foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among thought partners, community college personnel, non-profit practitioners, guidance counselors, Charter Management Organizations & NOLA Public Schools leaders, professionals from various business sectors and local universities, and other champions for postsecondary success. Meals, snacks, and a networking happy hour are included, and it will take place on the beautiful Uptown campus of Tulane University.

This event is complimentary for our NOLA CCAN community through the generous support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Kresge Foundation, Capital One and the Booth-Bricker Fund.

  • Keynote Speaker

    James Woods, M.S.

James Woods, aka ‘Dat Yoga Dude’, was a former therapist before he began his own journey on his mental and emotional needs. Through yoga, he was able to hone in on his passion of Social Emotional Wellness and spreading these tools with young people and those that care for them. For over a decade, he has helped staff, parents, and students transform their stress and help them go from yelling to yoga with powerful yoga skills. As a School Stress Strategist, it's his aim to forestall the burnout epidemic in education, by addressing the mental, and physical health crises affecting students and educators today. With over 15+ years of wellness and mental health, he has gained first-hand insight into what it takes to not only inspire students and educators but also fuel them with the momentum necessary for success.

His message, is “Awareness, Access, and Application."
